Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced the imminent restoration and subsequent opening of the Meghri and Yeraskh railway sections that existed during the Soviet Union and were subsequently destroyed in the Republic of Armenia.

Speaking at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Pashinyan said that the implementation of the TRIPP project will create a direct railway connection between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as through the territory of Armenia from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan and through the territory of Azerbaijan from Armenia to Armenia.
“Armenia does not have a railway connection between its northern and southern regions, and in practice this is only possible through the territory of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan does not have a railway connection with its Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, and in practice this is only possible through the territory of Armenia,” Pashinyan said.
