Pashinyan: Armenian economy is becoming more free

In a comment on the latest Index of Economic Freedom for 2020 released by the Heritage Foundation in which Armenia has improved its position by 13 notches climbing from the 47th position to 34th and moving from the group of 'moderately free' countries to the group of “mostly free” countries, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the international community is recording the profound changes that are taking place in the economic environment of the country.

In a comment on the latest Index of Economic Freedom for 2020 released by the Heritage Foundation in which Armenia has improved its position by 13 notches climbing from the 47th position to 34th and moving from the group of 'moderately free' countries to the group of “mostly free” countries, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the international community is recording the profound changes that are taking place in the economic environment of the country.
"The economy of Armenia is becoming more and more free, and this is the main way to stimulate investment. Dear fellow citizens, we must overcome the coronavirus crisis and return to building our prosperity," Pashinyan wrote in a Facebook post.
According to the Index, Armenia’s economic freedom score is 70.6, making its economy the 34th freest in the 2020 Index. Its overall score has increased by 2.9 points due to a significant spike in the fiscal health score. Armenia is ranked 18th among 45 countries in the Europe region, and its overall score is just above the regional average and well above the world average. -0-
