PricewaterhouseCoopers promises to help Armenia present its investment programs to potential investors

PricewaterhouseCoopers is ready to expand cooperation with Armenia and utilize its international network to present Armenia’s investment projects to the world, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Executive Partner for Eurasia Mark Henny said today in Yerevan.

YEREVAN, February 20. /ARKA/. PricewaterhouseCoopers is ready to expand cooperation with Armenia and utilize its international network to present Armenia’s investment projects to the world, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Executive Partner for Eurasia Mark Henny said today in Yerevan.

During a meeting with Armenian economic development and investment minister Suren Karayan Henny said there are many companies and private investors, who have money and are looking for a place to invest, but do not know where, while there are places that have ample opportunities for investment. 

‘The problem is in the wrong drawing up of investment packages,’ he was quoted as saying in a ministry’s press release. He added that PricewaterhouseCoopers is ready to help in the drawing up of correct investment packages and in the search for investors. 

Henny also noted that PwC is ready to provide consulting services to Armenian government agencies for the proper drawing of investment programs.

Karayan for his turn said that attracting investment is now one of the major problems of the Armenian economy and from this point of view, the experience of PwC in using the opportunities of international networks, creation of funds, provision of  advice for improvement of  business environment can be very important.

"We are ready for cooperation and are grateful for your willingness to use your experience and opportunities for the proper presentation of Armenian business and investment environments to the international community. Such a reputable company with its global network can secure confidence in our country in terms of attracting new investors,’ Karayan said.

During the meeting an agreement was reached to choose 1-2 investment projects and begin joint work towards their implementation. The minister singled out the program for the creation of a free economic zone on the border with Iran, noting that this program can attract as much investments as USD 500 million. 

Armenia plans to launch the free economic zone located near the southern town of Meghri in April 2017. The total cost of its construction is estimated at $32 million, of which $ 28 million are capital expenditure. According to the Armenian ministry of economic development and investment, the free economic zone can create 2,500 jobs and increase exports from Armenia by 30%. -0-
