YEREVAN, April 23. /ARKA/. Armenia should become a country of high technologies, and its technology sector should become a locomotive for the country’s economy, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Monday as he met with students and professors at the Yerevan State University’s economy and management department.
Armenia’s biggest taxpayers should be the technology sector’s companies this decade, he said adding that now the largest taxpayers are monopolist companies and mining companies.
Nikol Pashinyan said that special emphasis should be put on the preparation of high-qualified specialists. “This is the essence of the economic revolution, which, of course, is connected with education,” he said.
The premier also said that the government should pursue a policy of high salaries. ”Introduction of an averaged income tax in Armenia’s tax code is one of the key instruments for pursuing the policy of high salaries,” he said adding that the average income tax will reach 20% in the next few years. “We think that this way we promote payment for paying higher salaries and training skilled specialists,” he said. --0---
