General Motors may face wire-fraud charges in connection with its failure to fix faulty ignition switches blamed for more than 100 deaths, a report says, according to USA Today.

U.S. Justice Department attorneys in New York are considering criminal charges against the Detroit-based automaker, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
The New York Times previously reported that federal prosecutors had discovered criminal conduct at GM in their investigation.
A GM spokesman declined to comment. The company has repeatedly said it is cooperating with the Justice Department investigation.
Bob Hilliard, a Texas attorney representing victims of the GM defect, welcomed the prospect of criminal charges.
"Unless and until GM employees face jail time, and GM faces a loss of all of its profits, there will always be an attitude that 'customers are expendable, profits are not,'" Hilliard said in a statement. –0-
