Dog rabies case reported in Armenian Tavush

On August 16, a rabid dog had bitten a resident of Artsvaberd village in Armenia’s province of Tavush. The dog owned by another resident of the village died several hours later, Armenia’s Food Safety Inspection Authority in the province reported.

YEREVAN, August 19. /ARKA/. On August 16, a rabid dog had bitten a resident of Artsvaberd village in Armenia’s province of Tavush. The dog owned by another resident of the village died several hours later, Armenia’s Food Safety Inspection Authority in the province reported.
The same day, the remains of the dog were transported to the National Center for Veterinary, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Research. The laboratory analysis showed that the dog was infected with rabies.
The information was sent to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and is available on its website.
The resident of the village who had been bitten by the dog was moved to Berd Medical Center for treatment. He was not hospitalized. -0-
