A man died under the rubble of a collapsed building in Yerevan, a correspondent of Novosti-Armenia reported from the scene. According to the press service of the emergencies ministry, at 13:01, rescuers removed from the rubble, the body of Arthur G. born in 1962.

YEREVAN, August 26. /ARKA/. A man died under the rubble of a collapsed building in Yerevan, a correspondent of Novosti-Armenia reported from the scene. According to the press service of the emergencies ministry, at 13:01, rescuers removed from the rubble, the body of Arthur G. born in 1962. 

The explosion in a four-story panel building at 1 Rainis Street took place on Wednesday at 07:18, according to a preliminary version, due to a gas leak. Twelve apartments of the building collapsed. Two residents taken out from under the rubble were hospitalized in the Heratsi University Clinic No. 1. The condition of one of them (Svetlana S., born in 1949) is assessed by doctors as moderate, and the condition of the other (Edgar M., born in 1979) as extremely critical. He is in the intensive care unit and connected to a ventilator.

Air reconnaissance and surveillance were conducted by drones. Ten officers of the Armenian-Russian Humanitarian Response Center also worked on site.

Emergencies Minister Felix Tsolakyan told reporters on Wednesday, there is no threat of collapse of the rest of the collapsed building in Yerevan at the moment, but all residents have been evacuated. They will be provided with temporary housing.

5 combat crews, one fire escape, two groups of the Center for Special Rescue Operations, duty operational and medical groups of the National Center for Crisis Management and the department for organizing firefighting and rescue operations, as well as an instructor for providing psychological assistance and dog handlers worked on the spot.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Emergencies Minister Felix Tsolakyan, Health Minister Arsen Torosyan, Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan and other officials arrived at the scene of the incident. -0-
