Armenian police is investigating into the death of well-known prose writer Vrezh Israelyan, Novosti-Armenia reported referring to the police press office.

YEREVAN, June 14. /ARKA/. Armenian police is investigating into the death of well-known prose writer Vrezh Israelyan, Novosti-Armenia reported referring to the police press office.

The writer was found dead in his apartment in Vagharshyan street in Yerevan. The cause of the death has not been established yet; crime scene investigation is under way.

According to mass media allegations, Israelyan may have committed a suicide.

Vrezh Israelyan was born on April 2 1949. He graduated from journalism department of the Yerevan State University in 1971. He started his career as an editor of TV and radio youth programs.

In 1979-81 he was a freelance writer in Hayreniki Dzayn Weekly (Voice of Homeland), then headed Diaspora department in Sovetakan Hayastan (Soviet Armenia) magazine.

In 1993-99 he was the editor of Hay Zinvor (Armenian soldier). In 1999-2013 he worked in information department of the country’s ministry of defense.
First stories of Vrezh Israelyanw ere published in Garun (Spring) magazine. In 1978 he was awarded a prize for best story of the year. His “Only once” story was published in “Drujba narodov” magazine in 1982.

Israelyan wrote stories, plays, scenarios, particularly about Artsakh war (“Before the death and after”, “The Erkrapa and politics”, “Diehards”, “Step”, “The forefront”, “Andranik” and others). -0-
