YEREVAN, August 16. /ARKA/. A strong, second, earthquake hit Armenia’s northern regions at dawn on Monday, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

It said the earthquake of magnitude 4.5 was recorded early morning on Monday 16, August 2021 at 5:44 am local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface some 16 kilometers off the village of Bavra near the border with Georgia.

Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake has caused no significant damage, but was felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.

Weak shaking was felt in Tashir, located 29 km from the epicenter, Amasia - 31 km away, Stepanavan - 41 km away, Gyumri - 46 km away, Akhuryan - 47 km away, Spitak - 48 km away, and Alaverdi- 61 km away.

The day before, at 11:42 pm, an earthquake of magnitude 3.3 was recorded in the same place. -0-
