Two accused of smuggling medicines from Georgia into Armenia

YEREVAN, 22 May. /ARKA/. The State Revenue Committee of Armenia suspects two individuals of smuggling medicines into the country, the Committee’s press service reported on Wednesday.
The Committee obtained information from its sources that a train manager working on a train that runs between Yerevan and Georgian capital Tbilisi regularly brought medicines into Armenia without declaring those at the customs.
The man was detained while loading two plastic bags into his car near the Yerevan railway station. He was escorted to the State Revenue Committee where it turned out that the bags were full of undeclared medicines, weighing around 25 kg.
One more person was detained at a checkpoint on the Georgian border, suspected of smuggling medicines as well. Similar bags were found hidden in his car, weighing around 24 kg.
Both individuals had reports drawn against them for violating customs formalities.
