ARMENIA WILLING TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN NATO PEACEMAKING MISSIONS

Armenia is willing to actively participate in NATO peacemaking missions, Armenian Prime Minister Serge Sargsian said at his meeting with the Special Representative of NATO Secretary General in South Caucasus and Middle Asia Robert Simmons.
YEREVAN, June 22. /ARKA/. Armenia is willing to actively participate in NATO peacemaking missions, Armenian Prime Minister Serge Sargsian said at his meeting with the Special Representative of NATO Secretary General in South Caucasus and Middle Asia Robert Simmons.
At the meeting, Sargsian and Simmons discussed the issue of Armenia’s involvement in the peacemaking activity.
The Prime Minister showed interest in the development of the situation around recognition of Kosovo’s independence.
The sides confirmed their willingness to continue and develop the cooperation in this sphere.
Armenian servicemen have participated in the peacemaking mission in Kosovo in the Greek battalion since February 12 2004 and in Iraq since January 25 2005.
Recently Armenian Defense Ministry made a statement about its intention to send several officers and doctors to Afghanistan with humanitarian mission. N.V. –0--
