Armenians do not trust in the election system, said the Head of Association of Political Scientists of Armenia Hamayak Hovhanissyan.
YEREVAN, February 2. /ARKA/. Armenians do not trust in the election system, said the Head of Association of Political Scientists of Armenia Hamayak Hovhanissyan.
“It is conditioned by the fact that there was no change of authorities via elections and drastic changes during 20 years”, he said.
Elections in Armenia harmed the existing situation.
It brought to the loss of population trust towards the election institute which should be rehabilitated, otherwise it will mean failure of Armenian democracy.
Success in this process can be gained only in case when the opposition defines intentional goals and proposals for changing the Election Code and the whole election process.
Currently Election Code is being reviewed in Armenia. It defines liabilities of the county in fulfillment of the resolution PACE. In the draft law the ratio of proportional and majoritarian places in the Parliament is maintained - 90/41.
Changes and amendments are made in public outreach campaigns, corrections on the provision of financial reporting of political parties and issues of changing the structures of election committees. --0--
