YEREVAN, March 24. /ARKA/. NATO discusses further steps and development of general strategy regarding Libya, said the Ambassador of USA in Armenia Marie Jovanovich on Wednesday to the journalists.
“It will be a large work which will involve NATO member-states and its partners. These actions of international community are directed at the protection of Libyan nation”, she said.
Assistance to Libyan people is a complicated process but Libyan people asked international community to help them.
“As you know, this issue was discussed in UN Security Council which stated that the international community will help Libyan people in the creation of non-flight zone over Libya and other issues”, said Jovanovich.
Answering the question whether the actions of NATO in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya correspond to the wishes of the people in these countries, she said that it is unlikely that Afghan people would like to have terroristic network in their country.
“I also don’t think that they would like to be under the reign of talibs. Now Afghan people has a right of voice and to my opinion there will be positive changes in this country”, she said.
As for Iraq, the ambassador said that democracy appeared in the country which really works.
“If we look at today’s process, we will see that the economy is rehabilitating in Iraq. Several times democratic elections took place which were assessed transparent and fair by international observers. I think that Iraqi people have a government which is able to meet the requirements of all the spheres”, she mentioned.
Civil society in Iraq now has opportunity to express its visions which was impossible in the past.–0--
