Armenian President Robert Kocharyan addressed Armenian and Karabakhi citizens congratulating them on 20th anniversary of Karabakh movement, presidential press office reports.
YEREVAN, February 20. /ARKA/. Armenian President Robert Kocharyan addressed Armenian and Karabakhi citizens congratulating them on 20th anniversary of Karabakh movement, presidential press office reports.
The president said in his address that February 20 is a remarkable day. He said today the nation marks 20th anniversary of this landmark event.
The president said that Karabakhi people fought for national self-determination. In response to that, massacre was committed and large-scale military strikes were launched.
“Under these conditions, imposed on Armenian people, the movement was developed into war of national liberation”, the president said in his address.
The president said that the war took a heavy toll and made Armenian people more steadfast in their determination to obtain independence.
Kocharyan pointed out that Karabakhis accomplished a great deal in building statehood, strengthening economy and advancing democracy.
He thanked all those who have contributed to Artsakh development.-0---
