“Hayastan” fund to spend part of donations from Telethon on needs of Syrian Armenians

“Hayastan” All-Armenian Fund will held a “Telethon-2012” and 10% of all the donations will be directed to meet the pressing needs of Syrian Armenians, the press service of the Fund told “Novosti-Armenia” Agency.

YEREVAN, October 23. /ARKA/. “Hayastan” All-Armenian Fund will held a “Telethon-2012” and 10% of all the donations will be directed to meet the pressing needs of Syrian Armenians, the press service of the Fund told “Novosti-Armenia” Agency.

The Fund's French branch office came up with a similar initiative, a phonethon to be held on November 15-18.

On the day of the telephone 10% of the amount announced will be allocated to support Syrian Armenians arrived in Armenia, says the report. This does not include the targeted donations to be spent on certain projects selected by donators.

In mid-August 2012, the Trustees' Board of «Hayastan» All-Armenian Fund accepted the proposal of its Chairman, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and made a decision to open up bank accounts in Armenian Drams and foreign currency.

Over the 20 years of its activities «Hayastan» Fund implemented projects in Armenia and Karabakh for a total of more than 235 million dollars. The total length of the roads constructed was 476 kilometers. The outcome of the other large-scale construction works is 281 kilometers of new waterlines, 144 kilometers of gas pipelines, 230 schools and kindergartens, 424 houses and apartments, 40 hospitals and medical centers, 24 sports and cultural centers. A total of 85 educational, cultural and scientific programs have been implemented so far.

«Hayastan» All-Armenian Fund was founded in 1992 for implementing projects of national importance and developing infrastructures in Armenia and Karabakh. Among the members of the Fund's Board of Trustees chaired by Armenian President are prominent members of the worldwide Armenian community.-0-
