Armenia and Iran discuss creation of industrial zones

YEREVAN, February 24. /ARKA/. The possibilities for Armenian-Iranian cooperation in establishing joint industrial zones in Armenia were discussed last week by Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Edgar Zakaryan and the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dehgan Dehnavi, who is also the head of the Trade Development Organization.
The meeting, held in the Iranian capital, also addressed the prospects for increasing bilateral trade turnover and investment opportunities, as reported by the press service of the RA Ministry of Economy.
The delegation led by Zakaryan was in Tehran to participate in the third international exhibition "Eurasia." At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and several high-ranking officials from EAEU countries delivered speeches.
Armenian-Iranian trade statistics
According to Armstat, the Armenian-Iranian trade turnover for 2024 exceeded $737.4 million, reflecting a 6.5% year-on-year growth. Exports from Armenia to Iran amounted to nearly $108.3 million (a 14.5% increase), while imports from Iran totaled almost $630 million (a 5.2% rise).
High-ranking officials from both countries have repeatedly emphasized the need to increase the trade turnover to $1 billion in the near future, with a long-term goal of reaching $3 billion.
