Armenia and NATO satisfied with the level of political dialogue

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan received on Thursday NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia Javier Colomina Piriz, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

YEREVAN, October 21. /ARKA/. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan received on Thursday NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia Javier Colomina Piriz, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

It said the two men expressed satisfaction with the level of political dialogue between Armenia and NATO. Mirzoyan underscored the implementation of the NATO-Armenia Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) as an effective tool for the development of cooperation between Armenia and NATO. Piriz noted that Armenia is considered a reliable partner of the North Atlantic Alliance.

The parties were said to have touched also upon the involvement of the Armenian peacekeeping units in international peacekeeping missions. Piriz thanked Armenia for participating in NATO peacekeeping operations.

Mirzoyan and Piriz discussed also a set of issues related to international and regional security. Mirzoyan drew the interlocutor's attention to the situation that has emerged after Azerbaijan’s aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh with the assistance of Turkey.

In this context, he stressed the need for a lasting and comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.

The parties also noted the importance of preserving the principle of the non-use of force in the settlement of disputes. -0-
