Armenia committed to deepening relations with Nato, MP says

A senior member of Armenian parliament said today Armenia is committed to continue developing a strong partnership with NATO in line with an Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) that has been repeatedly modified.

YEREVAN, June 9. / ARKA /. A senior member of Armenian parliament said today Armenia is committed to continue developing a strong partnership with NATO in line with an Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) that has been repeatedly modified.

Koryun Nahaptyan, the head of the Armenian delegation to NATO Parliamentary Assembly and also head of an Armenian parliamentary committee on defense, national security and internal affairs, said Armenia is optimistic and confident that bilateral relations with NATO in the coming years will be at high level, especially after the approval of a fresh version of the Individual Partnership Action Plan laying out joint activities for 2014-2017. 

According to him, there are new opportunities for both sides to deepen their relationships that meet the strategic interests of Armenia.

He said NATO leadership welcomed Armenian delegation’s intention to actively participate in NATO Parliamentary Assembly activities.

Armenian peacekeeping platoons participates in NATO-led multinational missions in Afghanistan and Kosovo.  Armenia has also decided to keep about 120 soldiers in Afghanistan after the official completion of NATO-led combat operations there in December. -0-
