YEREVAN, September 25. /ARKA/. Armenia's Defense Ministry denied today a  statement by Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev that Armenia was building up its troops along the border with Azerbaijan.

Aliyev made the statement today at a meeting with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar. He claimed that  the Armenian side was  conducting serious military training, and the country's armed forces were  concentrated on the line of contact.

"Ilham Aliyev's statement  alleging that Armenia is accumulating forces along the border and preparing for action do not correspond to reality," defense ministry spokesperson Shushan Stepanyan said in response to a request from the Novosti-Armenia news agency.

According to her, such destructive statements have an obvious destabilizing tendency. She noted that the Armenian Armed Forces are busy with daily preparations and do not carry out any additional actions.

"On the contrary, it is Azerbaijan that is accumulating forces along the border, and  the Armenian Armed Forces are monitoring it by all methods. Any movement of the enemy will not remain unnoticed," the press secretary stressed. -0-
