Armenia has no territorial claims against neighboring countries – parliament speaker

YEREVAN, July 4. /ARKA/. Armenia has no territorial claims against its neighbors and is determined to continue doing its best for bringing security and peace in the region, said National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan during an official visit to Poland.

Speaking at a meeting with the experts of the Warsaw-based Kazimierz Pułaski think tank Simonyan said Armenia continues to face great difficulties and security threats.

In this context, Simonyan spoke in detail about the consequences of Azerbaijan's ongoing aggression against Armenia, stressing that Azerbaijan grossly violates the principles of international law and threatens the territorial integrity of Armenia.

"Azerbaijan, in gross violation of the provisions of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, has been blocking the Lachin corridor since last December that has resulted in an humanitarian crisis with 120 thousand Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh living in a complete blockade," Simonyan said.

Simonyan highly assessed the efforts of the Western partners (USA, EU, France and Germany) in trying to establish peace, stability and security in the South Caucasus.

He also noted that Azerbaijan continuously rejects all the efforts for peace, ignores the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights and the mandatory decision of the UN International Court of Justice (to open the Lachin corridor), and carries out an open policy of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Polish partners pointed out that the most difficult thing for the conflicting countries is to find a final solution that satisfies the sides, but it is even more difficult to leave the situation without a solution, which could lead to irreversible consequences. --0--
