Armenia sees necessity of specifying CSTO responsibility zone - government report

YEREVAN, April 17. /ARKA/. Due to the uncertainty of the positions expressed by a number of Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states, the need to specify the zone of responsibility of the military pact has arisen, says an Armenian government’s report on the progress and results of the implementation of its plan of actions in 2022.
The report also recalls that on November 23, 2022, the CSTO Collective Security Council meeting was held in Yerevan, when the Armenian side stressed the absence of an adequate response on part of the organization regarding Azerbaijani aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia.

"In connection with the Azerbaijani aggression against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia on September 13, 2022, Armenia also officially requested the Russian Federation to put into effect the provisions of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, as well as of the Collective Security Treaty Organization,’ the report says.
On September 13, 2-22 Azerbaijan launched an unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Armenia. Using heavy artillery, multiple rocket launchers and combat UAVs, the Azerbaijani armed forces shelled 36 residential areas and communities, including towns of Goris, Jermuk, Vardenis, Kapan, Geghamasar deep within the sovereign territory of Armenia.
