Armenia will open embassies next year in Mexico, Indonesia and Vietnam, first deputy finance minister Pavel Safaryan said today during a parliament debate on 2013 draft budget.

YEREVAN, November 5, /ARKA/. Armenia will open embassies next year in Mexico, Indonesia and Vietnam, first deputy finance minister Pavel Safaryan said today during a parliament debate on 2013 draft budget.
He said the government has earmarked 7.6 billion drams for maintenance of Armenia’s embassies and other diplomatic missions abroad, by 915 million drams more than in 2012. He said 147 million drams will be spent on the opening of embassy in Mexico, 150 million drams in Indonesia and 146 million drams in Vietnam.
Safaryan also noted that a number of functions of the ministry of foreign affairs will be handed over to other agencies. For example, the work of military attaches will be funded by the ministry of defense and that of Armenia’s trade missions by the ministry of economy.
Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandian said Armenia may also open embassy next year in Sweden. He said the ministry will carry on with reforms in the provision of consular services, including introduction of ‘electronic consulates’, which will facilitate the provision of services to Armenian citizens abroad.
Overall, the government has earmarked 10.557 billion drams for the ministry of foreign affairs next year. ($ 1 - 405.96 drams). -0-
