Armenia tries to create mechanism for dialogue between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan – Mirzoyan

YEREVAN, June 5. /ARKA/. Armenia is trying to create a mechanism for dialogue between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan to discuss the latter’s future, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said today in parliament.
"We are trying to create a mechanism, a platform, an environment - call it what you want – for Nagorno-Karabakh and Baku to discuss their future in the volume, amount and directions that they deem expedient. Armenia is doing everything to create that environment," he said.
The minister noted that there must be international participation, because the Armenian side is concerned that official Baku will do everything to imitate such a process and avoid substantial and serious discussions and settlements.
Mirzoyan said that during the talks the Armenian side is trying to show Azerbaijan and all its international colleagues that no matter how much they try to avoid discussing the issue, objectively the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh exists.
"There is a problem; there is a history of the conflict. And if Armenia and Azerbaijan can negotiate on all other points and come to mutually acceptable formulations, settle relations and sign an agreement, and if the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh is not addressed in this process, no mechanism is created where Karabakh and Baku can discuss and make decisions, the agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan may simply not work," he explained. -0-
