YEREVAN, November 12. /ARKA/. Since it gained independence, Armenia has been trying not to turn into a field of battle between different forces, director of the Caucasus Institute, political analyst Aleksandr Iskandaryan said as quoted by Novosti-Armenia.
The riskful dividing lines Russia’s Putin talked about are everywhere in the South Caucasus, the analyst said.
“Armenia is the one trying to unite, more than any other country. The policies of the Armenian authorities are formed based on the political reality”, Iskandaryan said on the air on Sputnik-Armenia Radio.
According to the analyst, it is a pressing reality for Armenia that borders recognized and partly recognized states and the regional superpowers.
“Formally Armenia has five neighbors, of them NKR is an unrecognized state, there are no diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey. Apart from this, Georgia has very specific relations with Russia, and Iran is in a similar relationship with the US”, Iskandaryan said.
At a conference in Valdai international discussion club Russian president Vladimir Putin said attempts are made again to “break up the world”. “To lay down dividing lines, to knock up coalitions on the principle of 'against’ somebody rather than 'for’, to create an enemy figure as it was during the Cold War and to receive the right to leadership, or, if you like, to diktat”, Putin said. —0--
