Armenian Prime Minister and Russian President announce different foreign trade figures at CIS summit

YEREVAN, October 10. /ARКА/. During the CIS summit held in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan presented contrasting figures concerning the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Russia.
"What is the increase in our trade turnover with Armenia?" Putin inquired.
"This year, it has already reached $4 billion," Pashinyan responded. Putin countered, stating, "No... It is higher."
Pashinyan clarified that "last year, it was approximately $9 billion."
"Higher. Last year's figure was greater, and this year it will also be higher. It is simply evident," Putin asserted, to which Pashinyan replied, "Well, perhaps."
As per the National Statistical Committee of Armenia, the trade turnover between Armenia and Russia was recorded at $4.5 billion during the first eight months of this year, reflecting a 51.3% drop compared to the period of January to August 2024.
According to the Statistical Committee, the total trade between Armenia and Russia for the entire year of 2024 amounted to $12.4 billion, indicating a 56.5% increase compared to the previous year.-0-
