Armenian and Lebanese leaders ready to strengthen ties between two nations

Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan who was last weekend in Lebanon with an official visit, was welcomed October 20 by Lebanese President Michel Aoun, who praised the role of the Armenian community in the political, economic, social, cultural, educational and sports life of the country, as well as in strengthening of friendship and development of  cooperation between the two states and peoples.

YEREVAN, October 22 /ARKA/. Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan who was last weekend in Lebanon with an official visit, was welcomed October 20 by Lebanese President Michel Aoun, who praised the role of the Armenian community in the political, economic, social, cultural, educational and sports life of the country, as well as in strengthening of friendship and development of  cooperation between the two states and peoples.

The two men were said to have looked into the development of bilateral trade and economic ties and stressed the importance of active work in this direction.

“We should make sure that bilateral economic ties are brought into line with the high level of political and human relations between our countries,” Pashinyan said.

He also spoke about the Armenian government-initiated measures to combat corruption, simplify tax and customs procedures, and also create a favorable investment climate.

The Lebanese President expressed readiness to assist the governments of the two countries in the implementation of joint programs and initiatives.

The meeting participants exchanged thoughts on cooperation between the two countries in international structures, and also discussed the regional and international agenda. -0-
