YEREVAN, April 21. /ARKA/. Vigen Sargsyan, Armenian defense minister, told journalists on Friday that he didn’t know how many children of oligarchs were serving their military duties on the frontline, since there is no legal definition for the concept “oligarch”.
He only denied the widely made statements that only boys from poor families are on the frontline.
The minister declared that they had nothing in common with the reality.
His argument was grounded on the speculation that in a country with such a high poverty rate the number of servicemen from low-income families is great.
In his words, there are children of MPs and deputy ministers among those serving their military duty on the frontline.
At the same time, Sargsyan refrained from naming them. “I can’t name them, since this is their personal affair, but this is so,” he said.
He said that there have been servicemen from different social categories at the Armenian president, Serzh Sargsyan’s meeting with participants of the April 2016 war, but to prove his statement he pointed out a son of a university professor and a member of an architect’s family. --0---
