YEREVAN, September 9. /ARKA/. Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan and U.S. Undersecretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Kahl met at the Pentagon on September 8, the press service of the Armenian Defense Ministry reported.

It said during the meeting the two men discussed the U.S.-Armenian defense cooperation agenda, and reached an agreement on deepening cooperation in peacekeeping mission, military education, military medicine and other areas.

At the request of Colin Kahl Suren Papikyan presented the military and political situation in Armenia, including the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

The sides stressed the importance of efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in the region. International security issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting. -0-
