YEREVAN, September 26. /ARKA/. On Wednesday, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan, responding to Azerbaijani economy ministry official, Natig Gasanov’s recent statement on Baku’s financial claims to Yerevan, said that manipulations with figures wouldn’t help Azerbaijani leadership to dodge responsibility for own steps.
According on Gasanov’s statement, “Armenian occupation” has inflicted the damage of AMD 431.5 billion to Azerbaijan.
“Sophisticated manipulations with figures, international law or the region’s history won’t help Azerbaijan’s leadership to dodge responsibility for losses on both sides of the conflict and for targeted attempts to torpedo of international peace brokers’ efforts to help resolve the conflict and preserve peace and stability in the region,” Kocharyan was quoted as saying by Armenian foreign ministry’s press office.
The deputy minister said figures, even inflated, are not able to reflect the damage Azerbaijan’s bellicose policy and hatred toward Armenians have inflicted to Karabakh, to Armenia and to Azerbaijan itself.
Kocharyan remembered that Azerbaijan responded to Nagorno-Karabakh people’s decision to use their self-determination right by committing pogroms of Armenians and ethnic cleansing, which wrecked havoc in many settlements, destroyed infrastructure and occupation of a part of Nagorno Karabakh’s territory.
“Today, Azerbaijani authorities, portraying the night axe murderer as a hero, refusing to withdraw their snipers and to create mechanisms for investigating incidents, and organizing diversions on contact line in a clear breach of the ceasefire regime, is responsible for each killed person, regardless of nationality,” Kocharyan said. -0-
