Armenian FM to visit Brussels to co-chair Armenia-EU Partnership Council session

YEREVAN, May 17. /ARKA/. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will be paying a working visit to Brussels on May 17-18 to co-chair the 4th session of the Armenia-EU Partnership Council, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.
It said the sides will discuss the status of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the Economic and Investment Program, cooperation in the areas of democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
The sides will also exchange views on the trade-economic and sectoral cooperation and launching of the dialogue on the liberalization of entry visas. The sides will discuss then the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and regional security issues.
The Armenian delegation is led by Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and the EU delegation by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
During the visit, the Armenian Foreign Minister will also meet with various EU officials.
CEPA was signed in 2017 and entered into force in 2021. It provides a framework for the EU and Armenia to work together in a wide range of areas: strengthening democracy, the rule of law and human rights; creating more jobs and business opportunities, improving legislation, public safety, a cleaner environment, as well as better education and opportunities for research.
This bilateral agenda also contributes to overall aim of the EU to deepen and strengthen its relations with the countries of its Eastern neighbourhood through the Eastern Partnership framework.-0-
