YEREVAN, October 2. /ARKA/. Armenia has restricted traveling to Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) for security reasons, the government said today.

The government said in order to ensure uninterrupted communication between Armenia and Artsakh and to unload roads, traveling from Armenia to Artsakh by vehicles is restricted starting from October 2, with the exception of goods  transported for the needs of the Defense Army and the Artsakh government, as well as in cases of exceptional necessity, which should be confirmed by permits, issued by the government of Armenia.

The government said to obtain a  permits for leaving Armenia, individuals should write a letter to info@gov.am and provide a justification for the visit and attach also photocopies of identity documents.

“We remind that citizens will be allowed to leave Armenia in case of emergency,” the government stressed.
Legal entities should write to  info@gov.am, and provide a justification for the visit, indicating their Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).

Local mass media representatives should send a letter to press@gov.am, representatives of foreign mass media outlets to media@mfa.am, and representatives of diplomatic missions, consular offices, and equivalent international organizations accredited in Armenia - to protocol@mfa.am

The government also called on citizens to refrain from individual initiatives to collect goods to help Artsakh and from their transportation to Artsakh.

“It should be borne in mind that any food, non-food products and medicines need to be sorted, have an expiration date, safety and storage rules that can only be provided by appropriate specialists. Therefore, any support should be provided through the regional, city and community  municipalities, which will provide a list of necessary goods,” the government said.

To coordinate the process of providing social and material assistance to Artsakh, a joint headquarters was created headed by the head of the Prime Minister's Office Eduard Aghajanyan.

The government has also launched a hotline number 117 for all to call on all matters related to martial law, with the exception of matters related to the Ministry of Defense. From abroad, one call (+374) 10 527 000. -0-
