The opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) will stage a demonstration on Wednesday outside the National Assembly building in support of the ANC-proposed amendments to the Armenian electoral code, Levon Zurabyan, head of the Congress’ faction in the National Assembly, was quoted by Novosti-Armenia News Agency as saying.

The National Assembly will convene an extraordinary session tomorrow in response to the ANC’s request to discuss the amendments to the electoral code and to the law on the state population registry.

“We invite all those people anxious to have the country’s electoral code amended to gather at 14:00 outside the parliament building, where we will try to reach our goal,” Zurabyan said.

The Armenian National Congress proposes transition from mixed system which implies election through party lists and in individual races to fully proportional party elections.
