Armenian parliament condemns Azerbaijani aggression against Karabakh
YEREVAN, September 28. /ARKA/. The majority My Step bloc and two opposition parties- Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia - in the Armenian National Assembly adopted a statement today that strongly condemns the large-scale aggression against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), launched by Azerbaijan on September 27 morning .

'This criminal action of the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan, including the shelling of peaceful settlements with large-caliber weapons, indiscriminate attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure and the previous aggression in Tavush in July 2020, the constant militaristic and anti-Armenian rhetoric, which pursue the goal of ridding Artsakh of Armenians, once again testify that the Azerbaijani authorities are a real threat to the existence of the Armenians in Artsakh and Armenia, to the entire Armenian people, as well as to the security of the entire region. All defensive actions of the Armenian Armed Forces are aimed at neutralizing this threat,' the statement says.

'Launching hostilities against the civilian population: old people, children and women is prohibited not only by international law, but in all civilizations, religions and beliefs.

The international community is obliged to take effective steps to contain not only the aggression carried out by Azerbaijan, but also the consistent aspirations of its ally Turkey to intervene in the Karabakh conflict, which will lead to extreme destabilization of the region, creating an immediate threat to international security and stability.

This adventure of Azerbaijan, carried out with the open support of Turkey, is a gross violation of international law, which must be given a political and legal assessment by the international community.

We demand that things be called by their names, that the aggression carried out by authoritarian Azerbaijan against democratic Artsakh is clearly stated and the line between humanism and misanthropy is clearly drawn.

The National Assembly of Armenia reaffirms that the Armenian side has always remained committed to the peaceful settlement of the conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship. At the same time, being the guarantor of the security of Artsakh, we will not compromise on taking all the necessary measures to protect the security and the expression of the will of self-determination of the Armenians of Artsakh,” the statement says. -0-
