Armenian PM says Azerbaijan needs to clarify its position on peace agreement

YEREVAN, November 24. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today that Azerbaijan needs to clarify its position on the peace agreement.
"At the moment it is not obvious and clear: whether Azerbaijan agrees to sign a peace treaty with Armenia on the basis of three principles. These three principles were agreed upon during the negotiations and this agreement was recorded at the trilateral meetings (facilitated by
European Council President Charles Michel)," Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during an online press conference.
He said one of these three principles is a mutual recognition of each other's territorial integrity based on the maps of the USSR General Staff.
The second principle is that the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration, which was signed by all post-Soviet countries, should serve as political basis for the demarcation and delimitation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
The next principle of the peace treaty is to unblock regional communications on the basis of sovereignty and jurisdiction of each side.
‘We cannot say that Azerbaijan refuses to sign a peace treaty based on these principles, but neither can we say that it reaffirmed its commitment to these principles,’ Pashinyan said.
"It is necessary to clarify these details and subtleties during the negotiations," the prime minister said, noting that the Armenian and Azerbaijani border delimitation and demarcation commissions are set to meet on November 30 on the state border. -0-
