Armenian premier continues story about events during the war in Artsakh
YEREVAN, November 30. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday continued the story about the events during the war in Artsakh, which this time featured the former presidents of Artsakh and Armenia.

ARKA News Agency presents the full translated text of Pashinyan's message (in the first person) posted on his Facebook page.

«On October 20, the second and third presidents of Artsakh, Arkady Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan, proposed to organize a meeting of the current and former leaders of Armenia and Artsakh, which would become an expression of national unity during the war.

After some discussion, I agreed. We agreed that when they signal the readiness of the retired presidents of Armenia, I will organize a meeting.

Arkady Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan at our next meeting spoke about a new nuance: Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Robert Kocharian want to go to Moscow to hold high-level meetings there, and our meeting will be organized after their return and will become a kind of information collation event and more informed discussion of the situation.

I said that I was not against this idea, I would even provide a state plane – let them leave, meet, return. However, after my consent, the former presidents of Artsakh raised another issue: they said that I needed to come to an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin so that he would accept L. Ter-Petrosyan and R. Kocharyan as special envoys.

I answered the following: I am in constant contact with the President of Russia. There are days when I talk to him on the phone five or six times. Now, if he asks me: "you want to say that you cannot tell me directly and you want to say it through special messengers", then what should I answer?

The same question arose in the case of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, when the former Presidents of Artsakh announced that our Foreign Minister would also petition for Lavrov to receive our special envoys. Our Foreign Minister is in constant contact with the Russian Foreign Minister, and their meeting is scheduled in Moscow. If Lavrov asks the same question to our Foreign Minister, what should he answer?

I proposed another option: to quickly organize a protocol visit of Ter-Petrosyan and Kocharian to Moscow as retired presidents, where they will be guests of the former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, and within this framework, try to organize courtesy meetings with the Russian President, Foreign Minister and other high-ranking officials.

Arkady Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan left promising to discuss this option with Ter-Petrosyan and Kocharyan. It turned out that the option I proposed was not very interesting to the latter. Bako Sahakyan, unexpectedly for me, announced that Ter-Petrosyan and Kocharian had an agreement to meet with Sergey Lavrov.

In that case, what do they want from me? If there is an agreement, let them go to Moscow and meet. It turned out that the problem is in Kocharyan's passport, which is in court. I said, let them file a petition with the court, I will ask that the prosecution does not object to the return of the passport. So what happened. The court returned Kocharyan's passport, but Ter-Petrosyan and Kocharyan never left for Moscow.»

The day before, Pashinyan wrote on the social network about his conversation with Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan on October 19, as well as the content of telephone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discussions with out-of-parliament forces and the Security Council.

About Artsakh War

From September 27 to November 9, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, with the participation of Turkey and foreign mercenaries and terrorists recruited by it, carried out aggression against Artsakh at the frontline and in the rear using rocket and artillery weapons, heavy armored vehicles, military aircraft and prohibited types of weapons (cluster bombs, phosphorus weapons). The strikes were delivered also at civil and military targets on the territory of Armenia.

On November 9, the leaders of the Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a statement on the cessation of all hostilities in Artsakh. According to the document, the parties stop at their positions. The city of Shushi, Agdam, Kelbajar and Lachin regions pass over to Azerbaijan, with the exception of a 5-kilometer corridor connecting Karabakh with Armenia. A Russian peacekeeping contingent will be deployed along the contact line in Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor. Internally displaced persons and refugees are returning to Karabakh and adjacent regions, prisoners of war, hostages and other detained persons and bodies of the dead are exchanged. -0-
