Armenian president points out causes of people protests
YEREVAN, April 24. /ARKA/. Armen Sarkissian, Armenian president, pointed out social difficulties, the lack of confidence in the future and dissatisfaction as key grounds for the people’s protests in the country.

On April 23, Serzh Sargsyan, who was appointed one week earlier by the Armenian parliament as prime minister amid widespread disaffection for him, resigned. On the same day, Armen Sarkissian, Armenian president accepted the government’s resignation.

“We have repeatedly said that Armenia has many problems,” Sarkissian said. “Dissatisfaction and the lack of confidence in the future led to civil unrest and grassroots movement. Now a historical moment has come for our homeland – it is time to build a new Armenia.”

Commenting on Serzh Sargsyan’s resignation, Sarkissian called it a wise and timely decision.

“I respect and appreciate Serzh Sargsyan’s wise decision to leave the country leader position, which made it possible to avoid clashes.” -0---
