Armenian president sings law about investigation committee

Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan signed the law about the investigation committee on Tuesday envisaging merger of the investigative services of the police with such of the ministry of defense. Other investigative bodies will join the new structure later.
YEREVAN, June 11. /ARKA/. Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan signed the law about the investigation committee on Tuesday envisaging merger of the investigative services of the police with such of the ministry of defense. Other investigative bodies will join the new structure later.
The presidential press office reports the law covers issues on employment in the committee, classification of posts and ranks, the rights and obligations of the staff, their legal and social security.
Armenia’s parliament passed the law about investigation committee on May 19. According to the law, the head of the committee is appointed by the president proposed by the premier.
According to mass media allegations, former prosecutor general Aghvan Hovsepyan is to be appointed as the head of the committee. –0—
