Armenian prime minister congratulates new French counterpart
YEREVAN, May 16, /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan sent a message of congratulation to French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault on taking office.

“I sincerely congratulate you and wish all the best in connection with taking the office of prime minister,’ he was quoted as saying by the government press office.

Sargsyan also expressed hope that in his new capacity Jean-Marc Ayrault will help build up friendly relations between France and Armenia.

Ayrault, a 62-year-old former German teacher, lawmaker and longtime ally of president Hollande, has never previously held a ministerial post, but he is mayor of Nantes, a veteran parliamentarian. He was named to the job of prime minister over other potential candidates, including Socialist Party leader and former labour minister Martine Aubry, who reportedly refused to join the cabinet if she did not get the top job. -0-
