The Armenian government has appointed today Hovhannes Harutyunyan as governor of the northwestern province of Shirak.

YEREVAN, January 21. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has appointed today Hovhannes Harutyunyan as governor of the northwestern province of Shirak.

Hovhannes Harutyunyan, who served earlier as deputy health minister, has replaced Tigran Petrosyan who tendered his resignation letter last week.

Harutyunyan received his basic education in Russia, where he later worked as a surgeon. In 2016 he had a retraining course to become a health sector organizer and moved to Armenia to take over as director of Berlin polyclinic in the Shirak region.

Two years later he became head of policlinic at St. Grigor Lusavorich hospital, and also served as the deputy director of the hospital.

Later he as appointed as advisor to the Minister of Health, and in April 2019 as Deputy Minister of Health. He left the post of Deputy Minister in October 2019.

Tigran Petrosyan served as governor of Shirak since February 6, 2019. -0-
