YEREVAN, October 3. /ARKA/. Artsakh Foreign Minister Masis Mayilyan said that Azerbaijan's small successes in the April 2016 war eventually led to a big war. He said the frontline of 1994 must be restored, and the international community should contribute to this. In his words, the alteration of this line in 2016, when Azerbaijan achieved certain successes, allowed them to start a war four years later.

The minister noted that these small territorial achievements became the basis for a big war. "Azerbaijan should not receive territories as a result of this war," Mayilyan said.

From 2 to 5 April 2016, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces conducted active hostilities, shelling positions and settlements of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic practically along the entire line of contact with the use of rocket and artillery weapons, armored vehicles and aviation. The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic’s Defense Army successfully suppressed the aggressive actions of the enemy, inflicting heavy losses in manpower and equipment.

On September 27, at 07:10, Azerbaijani troops launched an offensive along the entire length of the contact line in Artsakh, but were thrown back in several directions. Intense fighting continues in the south, southeast and north of the front line. Turkey joined the aggression. Residential areas are being shelled as well.

The Azerbaijani side suffered losses in manpower (more than 3,000 people killed and around 3,400 wounded) and equipment, in particular, 110 UAVs, 3 units of TOS – 1A, 16 helicopters, 250 tanks and other armored vehicles and 11 aircraft. According to the data of the defense ministry of Armenia and Artsakh, more than 200 Armenian servicemen were killed and hundreds wounded on the Armenian side. Also 12 civilians were killed and 64 wounded.

The Armenian side informed the international community, including the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, about the aggression by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, also about the shelling of peaceful settlements.
