Azerbaijan launches airstrike near Martakert - Artak Beglaryan

YEREVAN, September 19. /ARKA/. Azerbaijani armed forces launched an airstrike near the town of Martakert and the villages of Askeran region, former Artsakh State Minister Artak Beglaryan said.

"Aliyev's genocidal forces launched an airstrike more than 20 minutes ago near the town of Martakert and in the villages of Askeran region. I have no information about the consequences yet. Shelling and fighting continue, the number of dead/wounded among civilians and military is growing," he said.

According to Beglaryan, dozens of explosions were heard in the capital Stepanakert in the last 15 minutes.

"Apparently these were shelling and UAV strikes by the forces of genocidal dictator Aliyev. The fighting continues and the defenders of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) are doing everything possible to prevent bloody genocide," he said.

The Azerbaijani defense ministry said in a statement Tuesday it launched “local anti-terrorist activities” to “suppress large-scale provocations in the Karabakh economic region,” and “to disarm and secure the withdrawal of formations of Armenia’s armed forces from our territories.”

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today Armenia's army was not involved in fighting and the situation on the border was “stable”.

Earlier, the Karabakh side appealed to the Azerbaijani side to immediately stop hostilities and sit down at the negotiating table to settle the situation.-0-
