YEREVAN, December 13. /ARKA/. The rights of thousands of Nagorno-Karabakh citizens have been violated after a group of Azerbaijanis blocked the sole road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia on Monday for the second time in nine days.

The Stepanakert-Goris road remains closed in both directions, the Nagorno-Karabakh Interior Ministry said.

It said citizens who traveled from Armenia to Artsakh had to spent night in the Armenian Goris, some of them, including women and children, in the Lisagor community of the Shushi region.

The road was blocked on Monday at around 10:30 a.m. in violation of the provisions of the trilateral agreement of 9 November 2020.

According to reports from Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijanis pitched tents at a road section near the Azerbaijani-controlled town of Shushi, demanding a meeting with Major-General Andrei Volkov, the commander of Russian peacekeeping forces stationed in Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to Azerbaijani media, they are environmental activists who are demanding that government officials from Baku be allowed to inspect two Karabakh gold mines.

On Saturday employees of a Karabakh mining company and residents of nearby villages prevented Azerbaijani officials from visiting the mine.

Armenian government press office said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the situation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday by phone.-0-
