CSTO secretary general speaks against possible attack on Iran
YEREVAN, February 21. /ARKA/. Secretary general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a Russian-led multinational security alliance of several former Soviet constituent republics, spoke today against any plan to strike on Iran saying a US military strike on Tehran would cause a deep crisis in the surrounding region and far beyond.

Nikolai Bordyuzha spoke during a videoconference organized by Russian RIA Nvosti news agency between Yerevan (Armenia), Astana (Kazakhstan), Kiev (Ukraine), Minsk (Belarus) and Chisinau (Moldova).

He said the position of CSTO member countries concerning a possible attack of the USA on Iran is united and consists of the idea that no strikes must be made. If this happens, this will shake many and from all points of view, Bordyuzha said.

He added that the organization was making steps regarding the possible flow of refugees from the region, but so far these steps are not very active as CSTO leaders still hope that there will be no attack.

"We are monitoring the situation. By the way, we have taken steps to be prepared for a possible flow of refugees. CSTO countries are aware that that an attack on Iran would have dire political, environmental and military consequences for the region,’ he added.

The CSTO is the successor of the Collective Security Treaty (CST), established in 199. The CSTO comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.-0-.
