CSTO Secretary General: there are daily shooting on Armenian-Azerbaijani border

YEREVAN, November 23. /ARKA/. Tension remains high on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas said today in Yerevan.

"The information that comes to us confirms that almost every day there are shootings on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Three special sessions of the Collective Security Council were devoted to the discussion of the emerging threats for Armenia," he said at a joint session of foreign and defense ministers as well as secretaries of security councils of six former Soviet republics, which are members of the Moscow-led Collective Security Treaty Organization.

Zas said that in the Caucasus region, the efforts of the Armenian government and other involved parties to achieve peace, legal registration of borders and unblocking of transport communications were playing a positive role.

He stated that, in general, the draft decision of the CSTO on joint assistance measures to Armenia, prepared based on the conclusions and proposals of the CSTO monitoring mission, has been agreed upon. -0-
