Downtown Yerevan to be closed for traffic on Independence Day

On September 21, when Armenia will be celebrating the 27th anniversary of independence from the former Soviet Union, the downtown Yerevan will be closed for traffic, Deputy Chief of the Traffic Police Norik Sargsyan told journalists on Tuesday.

YEREVAN, September 18. /ARKA/. On September 21, when Armenia will be celebrating the 27th anniversary of independence from the former Soviet Union, the downtown Yerevan will be closed for traffic, Deputy Chief of the Traffic Police Norik Sargsyan told journalists on Tuesday.
More precisely, the following streets will be closed from 10:00 in the morning - Amiryan Street, parts of Abovyan, Sayat-Nova and Nalbandyan streets, also part of Tigran Mets Avenue , and Vazgen Sargsyan and Zakiyan streets completely.
From 12 pm September 21, parking will be prohibited on the Republican and Shahumyan squares, as well as near those areas where stages will be erected for solemn events.
On September 21, 1991, about 99% of citizens voted for the proclamation of independence. Officially, independence was proclaimed by the parliament on September 23. -0-
