Escalation of military hostility on Armenia -Azerbaijan needs to cease immediately -Polish Chairmanship in OSCE

YEREVAN, September 13, /ARKA/. The escalation of military hostility at the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan needs to cease immediately, the Polish Chairmanship in the OSCE said today.
'The progress achieved on the diplomatic path must not be squandered. Chairmanship remains ready to assist in achieving a lasting solution,' it tweeted.
Earlier today, Armenia appealed to Russia for urgent military intervention invoking the Russian-Armenian Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in response to Azerbaijani aggression against its sovereign territory.
Armenia also requested assistance from the Russian-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) as well as the UN Security Council.
Prior to that Pashinyan had a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to provide information on heavy fighting that broke out at various sections of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border shortly after midnight.
Pashinyan spoke by phone also with French President Emmanuel Macron and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan also spoke by phone. -0-
