YEREVAN, October 17. /ARKA/. Vasilis Maragos, the head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, informed reporters that EU investment in Armenia is expected to total €2.5 billion.

"This represents a significant commitment made by the European Union since 2021. These initiatives are either currently being executed or are in the preparatory phase. For instance, the Sisian-Kajaran highway and tunnel are included in these projects. These investments are being funded through the EU budget, loans, and contributions from other partners as part of the Resilient Syunik initiative," Maragos stated during the visit of EU ambassadors to Syunik.

The ambassador noted that these investments encompass the Green Yerevan initiative, the acquisition of 87 MAN buses as part of the public transport reform in the Armenian capital, the renovation of 50 kindergartens in Yerevan, and investments aimed at enhancing power lines between Armenia and Georgia. This is vital for facilitating the opening of the Armenian electricity market to additional initiatives and investments in green energy within the country.

"Armenia possesses significant potential for electricity generation through solar photovoltaic panels. The establishment of regional communications, which I hope will materialize as part of the peace process, will create numerous new opportunities. These opportunities will benefit not only businesses but also the Armenian populace, the Armenian economy, and the generation of an increasing number of high-quality jobs," Maragos remarked.

He underscored that the EU is committed to supporting Armenia in its efforts to become more resilient and sovereign.-0-
