EU believes it is necessary to ‘open opportunities’ for Eastern European countries, including Armenia - Bundestag MP
YEREVAN, 19 September. /ARKA/. Michael Roth, head of the German Bundestag's Foreign Affairs Committee, said at a press conference in Yerevan today that he understands that Armenia has specific expectations from the EU. He added that he believes that the time has come to move from words to deeds.
He also added that due to the events in Ukraine the approach that it is necessary to ‘open opportunities’ for the countries of Eastern Europe, including Armenia, prevails in the European Union.
At the same time, Roth noted that Europe faces ‘different kinds of Russian propaganda and disinformation, and the most common one is that the EU is allegedly forcing this or that country to move closer to Europe and away from Russia.’
‘In my opinion, this is cheap propaganda. I myself will be happy if Armenia gets even closer to the EU, but it is your sovereign decision,’ he said. -0-
