EU representative emphasizes Georgia's role as bridge between Armenia and Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, February 8. /ARKA/. ‘At a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, we talked about his personal involvement and interaction with the president and prime minister of Armenia and his desire to mediate the rapprochement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which we support," EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar told Georgian TV channel Moamba.
Toivo Klaar said he hopes that in the cooperation between the European Union and the three South Caucasus countries will get intensified and become closer. He also welcomed Georgia's desire to act as a bridge between Azerbaijan and Armenia to bring peace and stability in the region.
"It is very important that all three South Caucasus countries work together and contribute to peace. Georgia's role as a bridge between Armenia and Azerbaijan is very important. The Prime Minister and I have discussed the steps already taken in this regard and I hope that in the future cooperation in this direction between the European Union and Georgia, the EU and the three South Caucasus states will become even closer," Toivo Klaar said.
Earlier, Garibashvili said that Georgia seeks to form a peaceful neighborhood platform. He stressed the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region and reiterated Georgia's readiness to promote it. -0-
