European Commission President Congratulates Pashinyan on Election Victory

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the victory of the Civil Contract party in the parliamentary elections held on June 7, 2026.
YEREVAN, June 8. /ARKA/. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the victory of the Civil Contract party in the parliamentary elections held on June 7, 2026.
In her congratulatory message, European Commission President von der Leyen noted that the "spirit of the Velvet Revolution of 2018," led by Pashinyan, is "alive and well."
"We deeply value our partnership with democratic Armenia, which is increasingly moving closer to Europe. Armenia can rely on us," she emphasized.
According to preliminary election results, three political forces have entered the Armenian parliament: the Civil Contract Party (receiving 49.825% of the vote), the Strong Armenia bloc (23.281%), and the Armenia bloc (9.934%).
Therefore, 15 of the 18 political forces participating in the June 7, 2026, elections failed to meet the minimum threshold for entering parliament (4% for parties, 8% for blocs consisting of two parties, and 10% for blocs of three or more parties).
According to the Central Election Commission, 2,507,216 people are included in the voter registry in Armenia. Turnout was 58.94%, with 1,477,736 voters casting their ballots.
